Responsibilities

Patient Diagnosis and Treatment: Evaluate symptoms, conduct physical exams, order/interpret diagnostic tests (labs, X-rays, MRIs), and manage complex, multi-system diseases.
Chronic Disease Management: Provide long-term care for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and respiratory issues.
Preventive Care: Offer immunizations, health screenings, and lifestyle counseling to promote wellness.
Coordination of Care: Collaborate with other specialists, referring patients when necessary, and acting as a primary care provider for adults.
Inpatient/Outpatient Care: Treat patients in office clinics, or work as hospitalists in inpatient settings.

Key Requirements and Skills

Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
Training: Completion of a three-year internal medicine residency.
Certification: Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
Skills: Exceptional diagnostic reasoning, analytical thinking, patient communication, and attention to detail.
