Job Description:
Responsibilities & Duties
- Documentation: Preparing and auditing shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
- Compliance: Ensuring all shipments adhere to local and international import/export regulations, tariffs, and customs laws.
- Classification & Valuation:
Correctly classifying goods (HS codes) and determining their value for duty calculations.
Communication: Acting as the primary liaison between company teams, freight forwarders, terminal operators, and customs authorities.Process Management: Submitting electronic entries, paying duties and taxes on behalf of clients, and tracking shipment status to ensure timely release.Risk Management: Resolving issues related to cargo holds, inspections, or documentation errors promptly.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of customs regulations, international trade terms (Incoterms), and trade compliance.
- Experience: Previous experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or warehouse operations is often required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in customs brokerage software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry and document review to avoid penalties.
