Job Description:
Responsibilities
- Database Operations & Maintenance: Deploy schema updates, maintain system software (e.g., Oracle RDBMS or SQL Server), and perform routine patching and upgrades.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Proactively monitor database systems, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and write/optimize queries and indexes.
- Security & Compliance: Manage database access control, implement role-based security, and ensure compliance with standards (e.g., SOX).
- Disaster Recovery & Backup: Establish data lifecycle, retention, and backup strategies to guarantee system resilience and minimal data loss.
- Team Collaboration & Strategy: Act as a subject matter expert, advise developers and architects on data modeling, and automate routine administrative tasks to improve delivery.
Typical Requirements & Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Typically 5–10+ years of progressive DBA experience in enterprise environments. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Technical Proficiencies: Advanced knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and OS environments (Linux/Unix, Windows).
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving capabilities, independent project management skills, and strong communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional IT teams.
