Job Description:

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and evaluate the mathematics teaching team, fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Curriculum Development: Plan and refine Schemes of Learning to ensure high standards of teaching, specifically and academically challenging students.
  • Student Achievement: Analyze student data to implement interventions and track performance, ensuring high standards in examinations.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct lesson observations, monitor marking, and ensure consistent implementation of school policies.
  • Resources & Events: Manage departmental resources and organize extracurricular activities like math competitions.
  • Communication: Communicate regularly with parents and senior leadership regarding departmental achievements and individual student progress.
Common Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or education, with a teaching qualification.
  • Significant experience teaching secondary school mathematics (e.g., I/GCSE, A Level, IB).
  • Proven leadership experience within a mathematics department. 
Key Performance Indicators
  • Improved student attainment and progress in Mathematics.
  • High-quality classroom teaching and consistent curriculum delivery.
  • Effective, supportive, and well-organized department staff.
