Job Description:

 Responsibilities
 
Cashier & Checkout Duties
 
  • Process Transactions: Accurately operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to scan items, weigh goods, and key in product codes.
  • Handle Payments: Collect payments via cash, credit/debit cards, or UPI, and correctly calculate and return change.
  • Manage the Register: Balance the cash drawer at the start and end of your shift, manage receipts, and report discrepancies.
  • Process Returns & Refunds: Handle customer returns, exchanges, and price adjustments in accordance with store policies.
  • Customer Checkout: Bag, box, or wrap purchases neatly while maintaining a polite, friendly demeanor.
     
     
Sales Associate & Floor Duties
 
  • Customer Service: Welcome customers, answer questions about products, and help them find specific items in the store.
     
     
  • Product Knowledge: Stay updated on current inventory, features, benefits, and special promotional offers to effectively answer customer queries.
     
     
  • Drive Sales: Proactively cross-sell related products, explain warranties, and promote store loyalty programs or upcoming sales events.
     
     
  • Store Upkeep: Organize the sales floor, restock empty shelves, price items accurately, and keep both the aisles and the checkout area tidy.
     
     
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and report out-of-date items or low-stock products to store management.
     
     
 
Qualifications & Skills
 
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, alongside any mandatory age limits (such as being 18+ years old).
  • Mathematical Proficiency: Strong basic math and accounting skills for counting money and operating calculators/registers.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with or the ability to learn Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, barcode scanners, and money counters.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills to ensure customer satisfaction.
