Responsibilities

Student Support: Providing 1:1 or small-group support to students with special educational needs (SEN), disabilities, or those requiring extra help with literacy/numeracy.
Instructional Assistance: Assisting teachers in preparing classroom materials, setting up equipment, and implementing lesson plans to help students engage with the material.
Target Implementation: Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of targets within Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or EHCPs.
Behavioral & Pastoral Care: Modeling positive behavior, promoting independence, fostering social skills, and providing pastoral care to students.
Assessment & Recording: Monitoring student progress, recording achievements, and feeding back to teachers or the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
Supervision: Supervising students on the playground, during lunch, or on school trips.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience: Previous experience working with children or individuals with special needs is highly desirable.
Communication: Excellent communication skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Patience and Empathy: The ability to support vulnerable students or those with challenging behaviors calmly and positively.
Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively with class teachers and other staff.
