Job Description:
Responsibilities
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Regularly inspect the premises to identify fire hazards, unsafe conditions, and risky behaviors. Draft and maintain site-specific risk assessments and fire prevention plans.
Equipment Maintenance & Testing: Ensure all fire suppression systems, smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and fire extinguishers are routinely inspected, serviced, and maintained according to safety standards.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans. Organize regular fire drills and evacuation procedures for employees, ensuring everyone knows assembly points and designated routes.
Regulatory Compliance: Monitor adherence to local, national, and international fire safety laws. Maintain statutory records, logs, and up-to-date certificates of compliance.
Training & Awareness: Conduct safety induction training for new hires, routine toolbox talks, and specialized training for designated fire wardens and emergency response teams.
Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause analyses of fire incidents, accidents, or near-misses. Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective or preventive actions to management.
Education: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree (B.Sc., B.Tech, or B.E.) in Fire Technology, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related science/engineering field.
Certifications: Specialized credentials like an NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or state-certified Fire Prevention/Management certificates are highly sought after.
Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of practical experience in industrial, corporate, or construction fire and safety management.
Essential Skills: Strong leadership, excellent communication, crisis management abilities, and a meticulous eye for detail.
